“…so I think Allienation, Extra- Environmentalism, Shamanism whatever you want to call it, is simply Individualism, in the context of cultures that don’t value Individualism, and cultures don’t. You know, it is said, ‘Nature acts to preserve the species’… Cultures act to preserve the illusions of the population… they’re not interested in you if you’re an Einstein or a Jackson Pollock, unless they can fit you in to the commerce and the cannons of aesthetic order, and so forth, and that’s called ‘being civilized’….”

So

So…I actually have a good number of friends. Near and far.
One thing that hit me rough after December and trying to rebuild memory was finding out that there were some toxic people and situations over that lost time. And while I didn’t mind losing that part of things, they seemed to persist in wanting to ‘haunt’ me by those same folks going around and telling whatever they liked as their story of woe with me as their monster of choice.
I don’t entirely fault them. I’m not perfect. But I’ve never lied about who I am, either. Better or worse. And some of those folks, one way or another, are still children. And children are going to pout and always blame the adults when they think their fun is being ruined. And they’re happy to share their tales to any who will listen.
But those folks…it’s a shame. Because ‘friendship’ isn’t the same as sharing someone to mutually hate. That stuff gets old real fast. As will they. And faster than they realize right now.
I don’t wish them ill. I really don’t. Don’t take this as bitching and snarking. Seeing the barrel end pointing towards you in life has a sharp way of pimp slapping you about what really matters. And who. And those folks…they need to go live their lives. I wish them well for whatever they make of it on their own, whether they take ownership for that power and potential or not.
But even so…and even though hey, some of you out there may even have heard some of those lovely campfire tales about what a creep or monster I am…I stand by just being me. They want to name me and point me out. I’m not replying in kind. I’m keeping their names out of it, if they want attention for their grievances then they’re putting their own names to it, not me.
Anger and maliciousness only eats up the people who keep feeding it to each other. And I don’t have much appetite these days, literally and figuratively. When I’m gone they can have their dance and laugh. And you can watch it and wonder what sort of folks find glee in loss,or camaraderie in hatred.
Me? I have a lot of friends still. The good kind worth the time and love to have them. Some of them even heard the horror stories…and knew to only credit them so far before remembering that they know me. And the reality and evidence will always beat down innuendo and rumor for your real loved ones.
They know you’re not perfect and they don’t condone when you screw up. But they don’t desert you for the base truth that they remember always that you–like they–are human beings.
I have a lot of great people in my life. Starting with my wife right out of bed each day. And so won’t name everyone because this post is already too long and some of them would be embarrassed. But I try to tell them regularly what they mean to me, and they know who they are. If they don’t, that’s my mistake for not telling them enough.
I’ve got friends amongst the best comedians around. People I consider real comrades in getting on a stage to make you laugh. I’ve got actors, lawyers, exotic dancers and porn stars in my contacts list. Photographers. Magicians. Vagabonds and models and churchgoing folk. Staunch civil warriors and lost kitten foster moms. People in LA, Vegas, New York or Dayton.
I’ve got a sphere of people around me who have never let me down…even when I know I let them down a time or two. I’ve got guys I’ve known since grade school and gals I’ve been in love with since high school and a realm of people I’ve barely known a few months and family that’s been there since I was born.
I love all of you. From the rowdiest bar-hollering sumbitches to the tenderest earth mother spirits, the most neurotic and anxious to the bawdiest and brassiest.
I’ve got great people in my life. They’re what finally make me keep getting up and fighting this thing.
They’re what remind me that it’s not about what witty thing you have put on your tombstone, if there’s nobody that would ever care to come see it and think of you.
I’ve turned many of them into my favorite characters in stories but truly if I wrote a book a day the remainder of my days I couldn’t begin to enshrine them all with my paucity of imagination.
So if you haven’t caught it lately or yet, lemme just put it out to you, from Ralph & Katherine, to Samantha and Cory and Lisa, Rod and Mark and Travis, to everyone who knows very well or might be surprised to realize how I feel, from Sean to Rocco, Dian and Melanie…just so many…just go down the list and then some. Hell a few of you I’ve never even gotten to meet and shake your hand in person.
Love you. All of you. A little bit here and a lot over there…but yeah.
You don’t leave life behind. Anyone can do that. The luckiest and best of us leave people behind us. Like the speckled glow of phosphorescence in the Pacific Ocean, in the tidal wake of something wonderful moving pst and agitating and exciting the lives around them.
Leave a trail. Leave a glow behind you so the stars have something to smile down at. Leave people behind more than a stone or money or things. But tell them right now you love them.
Even if they hate you now. Don’t forget that you are someone capable of feeling that way even–especially–when it’s not returned.
Love is all you need. The rest is so much window dressing and bad theater.
Thank you, guys. One and all.

“California politicians

“California politicians, however, are less concerned with throwing sex offenders behind bars than they are with trying to improve the quality of life for those who are released from prison. Displaying absolutely no regard for the victims and instead concerning themselves with predator rights instead, California lawmakers are fighting to abolish the sex offender registry.
California “mandates lifetime enrollment for sex offenders…The existing law necessitates that those convicted provide addresses, employee names, fingerprints, license plate numbers and photos to the state Department of Justice after leaving prison…Offenders must re-register each year and extensively detail their movements and locations to comply with regulations that prohibit them from being near places such as schools and parks. Proponents of overhauling these laws claim that local authorities then have to spend disproportionate amounts of time processing paperwork…”
California lawmakers have their priorities screwed up. Paperwork sucks. It would be great if the states didn’t have to pay people to keep tabs on known sex offenders. However, protecting innocent citizens from harm is more important than saving a clerk from paperwork.” via CONSERVATIVE DAILY POST
Boy, Don’t this make you want to move California where everything permitted! These California Liberals are going away to far. Sure would make me want to be a liberal Democrat.

To my friends

To my friends. I apologize for the Barbara Webb contacts. I in no way sent her and just informed her strongly that if she continued to approach my friends, I would turn her in so fast her head would spin. Then I reported her to Facebook. Why can’t these people get REAL jobs? It sure beats worrying about being arrested and then WE won’t have to pay for them being in PRISON! Barbara Webb, GET A JOB! An HONEST ONE!!!

Excited to kick off this weekend with the young women empowerment conference

Excited to kick off this weekend with the young women empowerment conference.
Bit nervous about the opportunity to speak to a group of young women about relationship with… money.
It is my hope that my life personal falls and rises will inspire a younger generation to plan their financial future based on their own merit, and never depend on someone else to provide.
We don’t need to raise fairy tale princesses, waiting on Prince Charming to rescue them. We need to raise queens

The Affordable Care Act didn’t simply set subsidies based on income

The Affordable Care Act didn’t simply set subsidies based on income. It also tied them to a “benchmark plan”: the second-cheapest plan in a person’s area that covers, on average, 70 percent of expected health costs. The ACA’s promise was that, with help from subsidies, you wouldn’t have to spend more than a set percentage of your income on health insurance — if premiums rise in your area, so too will the subsidies.
The Senate GOP’s health plan changes that structure in a few ways. First, it resets the benchmark plan to one that only covers 58 percent of expected health costs. Under Obamacare, the sparest plan that insurers can generally offer at all has to cover at least 60 percent of expected health costs — so the plans subsidized by the GOP bill won’t just have higher deductibles and less coverage than the plans at the center of the ACA; they’ll have higher deductibles and less coverage than the plans at the bottom of the ACA.
Second, it increases the percentage of your income you can pay for a benchmark plan before it’s deemed unaffordable and additional subsidies kick in.
If all this sounds a bit in the weeds, here’s the bottom line: Low-income Americans get less money to buy crummier insurance. In the GOP bill, the measure of what is affordable has gone up and the definition of what counts as decent insurance has gone down.

More nuclear insanity…

More nuclear insanity…
$1 trillion of our tax money at work on nuclear weapons that cannot be used because doing so would destroy civilization.
Begins:
Safety lapses undermine nuclear warhead work at Los Alamos
By Patrick Malone and R. Jeffrey Smith | Center for Public Integrity June 18, 2017
An extended shutdown of the nation’s only scientific laboratory for producing and testing the plutonium cores for its nuclear weapons has taken a toll on America’s arsenal, with key work postponed and delays looming in the production of components for new nuclear warheads, according to government documents and officials.
The unique research and production facility is located at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in New Mexico, the birthplace of the U.S. atomic arsenal. The lab’s director ordered the shutdown in 2013 after the Washington official in charge of America’s warhead production expressed worries that the facility was ill-equipped to prevent an accident that would kill its workers and potentially others nearby.
Parts of the facility began renewed operations last year, but with only partial success. And workers there last year were still violating safety rules for handling plutonium, the unstable man-made metal that serves as the sparkplug of the thermonuclear explosions that American bombs are designed to create.
